So this morning after the unveiling of the Banks statue (see below) I was arm-hooked by an attractive lass offering free pizza before inning 9. So begins my experience with Purgatory Pizza on Clark Street in Wrigleyville. Purgatory Pizza (3415 N Clark) is truly a unique experience in the world of 'za. Just opened, Purgatory is the sister restaurant to Risque Cafe, which also just opened next door one slot to the North on Clark.

The 'za at Purgatory is super maxi-crispy. Manager Brian told me that the beer they use in the pizza and hand-tossing (get your minds out of the gutters gayboys!) makes the crust a special kind of crisp. I would liken it to going to communion only way tastier. The crust is firm and supportive-enough to allow for hefty toppings with tasty names like "Humility, Love, Restraint, The False Profit, Temperance, Zeal, and Turkey Limbo (my personal fav).

I don't know how they do it, but this is good pizza, at a cheaper-than-Wrigleyville price. Only $9.95-$20.45 depending on selection/size. You can also choose from 34 individual toppings and make it your own.

The beer selection is modest, but I have it on good authority from Brian, Orville, and Adam (all members of Mgt.) that the menu is in a growth curve...and could be influenced by the 250+ brews from next door at Risque. I'll review Risque in a future post.
